Barcelona to New York Cruise
Regent Seven Seas Grandeur
August, 2024
Our cruise was a magnificent transatlantic journey that began in the stunning city of Barcelona, Spain. After spending a delightful few days exploring the vibrant streets and beautiful architecture of Barcelona, we finally boarded the newest ship in the prestigious Regent Seven Seas fleet - the Grandeur. As we set sail along the picturesque eastern coast of Spain, we had the pleasure of visiting charming cities such as Alicante, Motril, and, ultimately, the historic port city of Cadiz. Our adventure then took us to the enchanting islands of Madeira and the Azores before we crossed the vast Atlantic Ocean to reach the East Coast of North America. During this segment of our journey, we made memorable stops in beautiful locales including Halifax, Portland, Boston, Newport, and concluded our voyage in the vibrant and iconic city of New York.
A few photos of our time in Barcelona
We stayed two nights in Barcelona, a city we've visited often. We enjoyed the Gaudi buildings and made lunch plans at our favorite tapas spot, Bar Cańete. The photo of the staff was taken on the street as they arrived for work.
Initial ports along the Spanish Coast
We first visited Alicante, where we were amazed by its beauty and enjoyed three tapas experiences. Next, we explored the city and beaches of Motril, a gateway to Granada. Our last stop was the lovely Cadiz, where we toured the city and had lunch outside.
Madeira and the Azores
Madeira and the Azores are beautiful Portuguese islands in the Atlantic. We visited the markets in Funchal, Madeira, and rode the funicular to Monte's mountaintop. In the Azores, we explored the stunning nature of Sao Miguel. The views were amazing.
The East Coast of North America
Our first sight of land after crossing the Atlantic was Halifax in Nova Scotia. It was a beautiful day in Halifax and we enjoyed a delicious Canadian lobster roll there. We also visited Newport and Boston on our way to New York.
